Meet Danielle Hicks, a soul-shaking songbird with a magnetic stage presence and a voice just like Honey. The Georgia-born songwriter, vocalist, and leader of The Resistance grew up singing in her father’s Southern Rock band and performed her first show, the Georgia Big Pig Jig, at age 7. Right out of high school, she made the leap from small town to New York City for formal training at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy on a talent scholarship. After a decade performing in NYC’s oldest running music venues, Hicks settled in the artistic, coastal enclave of Savannah. In the Hostess City, she met a collective of like-minded players including her right hand man, guitarist, Ben Keiser. Danielle and the Pittsburg native, Keiser, hit it off immediately and have been playing together for 6 years now. She was drawn to his soulful licks and array of musical styles. Inspired by the ohm, a unit of electrical resistance for measuring sound, in 2013 she coined the group The Resistance. Together, they honed original material, garnering more fans with each show.
